A variety of thoughts from EQ Studios very own John Hamilton.
A bit of a catch-up blog as the past few months have been interrupted by hols plus a successful (non-urgent) hospital op in Sept for JH.
First, congrats to client Juliet Lawson who has placed a song with Monica Mancini (Henry’s daughter) for inclusion in her new album. We produced the song for Juliet a year ago and were always very impressed by its qualities. Great news – and encouragement to the rest of us - that if you have the talent, keep at it, something can happen. You know my refrain – ‘don’t give up’.
We are finalising two albums that started in the summer:
Jessie Pie, a folksy, bluesy, jazzy, burlesque artist who writes some of the quirkiest (and intelligent) songs we have encountered has been a constant source of inspiration, and Gavin Sparks/Kay Shelley, a song-writing team doing a mix of standards and jazz-rock material, underpinned by Gavin’s amazing guitar playing are now at the mixing stage of what has been a wonderful experience for us.
Phil Ryan and Sony signing Peter Conway have also been in doing some great new songs.
Other recent clients include Mel, Sonia Rattan, Barry Dawes, David Stark (Songlink), Brian Dee and the legendary Tony Hiller (Google this guy!), Marc Charlier, Corrib, Ella Brestelli, Maya, Dan Chisholm (Radio Presenter), Mario Campanale (Chelsea fan-song – we’re nothing if not versatile!), Hoagie (interesting left-field stylist), and Dave Whittle.
